After studying illustration at the Falmouth School of Art and Design, I settled down into a career working as a freelance technical illustrator in Cornwall. Whilst alongside work and family life, I developed my passion for fine art and had the opportunity of selling paintings through local galleries.
The inspiration to create comes from the wonderful Cornish coastline and landscape around my home, extending from Land's End up to the beautiful moorlands, all offering perfect views to paint in all seasons.
In terms of mediums I am primarily drawn to the purity of watercolour with its simplicity and spontaneous character and a fascination for the way it blends with its natural unpredictability. Over the years I have also enjoyed painting in oil and acrylic, sketching with gouache and pencil to expand the creative process.
So either working in my studio, en plein air, gathering sketches and photographs or walking to soak up local scenes, I have a passion to capture and produce my view of Cornwall.
